Police believe Fells Point murder suspect fled to Mexico

The suspect being sought in the killing of a Fells Point woman may have fled to Mexico.

Authorities looking for the suspected killer of a Fells Point woman believe he has fled to Mexico, according to a document filed in federal court.

Baltimore Police last week alerted San Antonio news outlets that they were looking for 29-year-old Juan Morales for the stabbing death of Claudia Parodi, 40, a waitress at the restaurant Pazo who was found dead Oct. 6 in her apartment in the 700 block of S. Bond St.

In documents filed in U.S. District Court charging Morales with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, authorities say Morales has not been seen in Maryland since the killing, while his credit card was used in Moore, Texas, about 30 minutes from San Antonio and about two hours from the Mexican border.

Authorities wrote that Morales is "believed to be of Mexican nationality" and that his "ultimate destination is Mexico."

An agent with Homeland Security Investigations wrote that Morales lived with Parodi at the time of her killing. Police found her body in a pool of blood inside the building after a friend reported she had not been seen "for an extended period of time" and police forced entry.

Police said anyone with information about Morales' whereabouts should call 911.
