The Basketball Tournament will return to Baltimore in August with NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony as host, tournament officials said Sunday.
The $2 million tournament has been played for the previous two years in New York. The semifinals and finals are scheduled Aug. 1-3 at Coppin State University.
ESPN networks will broadcast the games live, tournament officials said.
The Basketball Tournament pits 64 teams of professional, college alumni, and international basketball players in a single-elimination 5-on-5 tournament for a winner-take-all $2 million prize. Teams compete for spots by soliciting votes from fans on social media.
The tournament began in 2014.
"Baltimore will always have a special place in my heart, and I'm excited to bring a tournament like this to this city," Anthony, a Baltimore native, said in a statement. "Basketball and Baltimore go hand in hand. The perfect match. A city that is all about determination. A city that helped build me."
