Baltimore man killed in shooting outside N.Y. nightclub

A Baltimore man was killed in a shooting outside a nightclub in Baldwin, N.Y., early Saturday morning, local police said.

Daquan Gaskin, 22, was shot in the chest in front of the Love Jones Café, at 1920 Grand Ave., and taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:17 a.m., Nassau County police said.

A 39-year-old man, who was not identified, was shot in the leg in the incident, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

Nassau County police have not identified a suspect or motive in the shooting. Baldwin, an unincorporated area in the town of Hempstead, is roughly 12.5 miles west of John F. Kennedy International Airport on Long Island.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information may call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

No relatives for Gaskin could be reached Sunday night.
