April 1, 2008: Brothers Stephon Blackwell, then 16, and Sterling Blackwell, then 15, are kidnapped from their home in the 600 block of Plymouth Road, a few blocks west of the city line. Six masked gunmen burst into house and held 10 people — including the boys and their mother — hostage for eight hours before stealing a car. As the gunmen left, they fired shots at Steven "JR" Blackwell Jr., the boys' older brother, as he arrived, police said. Amber alerts were issued for the teens, and several law enforcement agencies assisted in the search, though others in the house declined to cooperate.

April 4, 2008: Steven Blackwell Jr. gets his brothers back and brings them to Towson police headquarters. The teens wouldn't say where they had been, who had taken them or what happened while they were gone. Police couldn't say whether a ransom had been paid for their release.

April 11, 2008: Triple shooting in the 1700 block of W. Lexington St. kills Anthony Izzard, 25. At the time, police suspected that the shooting was linked to the kidnapping.

April 21, 2008: Gunfire erupts outside Izzard's funeral, held at a West Baltimore church in the 500 block of N. Stricker St. Michael Ellerby, 24, one of two men who was shot, dies.

May 15, 2008: Quadruple shooting outside the Allen & Family Appliance store in the 2300 block of E. North Ave. kills Omar Spriggs, 27, and Tony Allen, 52. Terrell Allen, 35, Tony Allen's son and Omar Spriggs' brother, was one of two men injured. Documents from an arrest connected to the shooting show that authorities believe the abduction of the two teens in April involved Terrell Allen, Spriggs and Demetrious Rich, 29, all of Baltimore.

July 25, 2008: Quinton Hogan, 23, who police believe was connected to the Blackwells, and Donell Rogers, 21, are slain in a sport utility vehicle on Wabash Avenue.
