A 25-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday in Baltimore's Charles North neighborhood, one of two weekend homicides reported by police.
Charlie Williams was attacked by two men about 1 a.m. in front of an apartment in the first block of W. 20th St., witnesses told police. A man wearing a trench coach approached Williams, grabbed him by his collar and shot him several times, police said. The shooter and the other suspect, a shorter man who was wearing a dark-colored jacket, ran south on Maryland Avenue toward North Avenue, according to police.
A woman found Williams lying face-down in the street and alerted a nearby officer. Williams, of the 3000 block of Seamon Ave., was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center and pronounced dead about an hour later.
Police said a 40-year-old man was also fatally shot about 3 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of S. Payson St. in West Baltimore. Officers found Johnnie Hawkins of the 3500 block of Richmond Ave. lying inside a garage at Superior Auto Makeover Car Wash and suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso. He was taken to Shock Trauma, where he was pronounced dead Sunday morning.
Police have made no arrests in either shooting.
