City police identify victim of fatal shooting

A man who died at Johns Hopkins Hospital after being found shot early Wednesday evening has been identified as Larry Franklin, 22, of the 2000 block of Kennedy Ave., police said. No arrest had been made, and police were without a motive, said Officer Nicole Monroe, a police spokeswoman. Eastern District uniformed police responding to a report of a man shot in the 2200 block of Robb St. about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday found Franklin lying on the ground bleeding from at least one gunshot wound to the body, Monroe said. She said Franklin was taken by a city Fire Department ambulance to Hopkins, where he died less than an hour later. Franklin's death is the city's 192nd murder this year, Monroe said. There were 260 murders this time last year, she said. Metro Crime Stoppers at 410-276-8888 is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and an indictment in the slaying.
