Man critical after shooting

A 31-year-old man was in critical condition after being shot in the head Friday night, police said. The shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Jefferson St., in the Middle East neighborhood of East Baltimore. Police said the victim was seeking shelter from the heavy rains in the doorway of an abandoned store. An unknown person approached and shot him "without warning," said Detective Donny Moses, a police spokesman. The shooter fled; the victim was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital and was on life support, Moses said.
