A woman believed to be in her 60s died Thursday morning after a small fire broke out in the basement of her Brooklyn home, according to city fire officials. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and found the woman unconscious about 2:30 a.m. inside her home in the 4100 block of Hague Ave. near Curtis Bay. She was taken to Harbor Hospital and died a short time later, a Fire Department spokesman said. Authorities had not identified the woman yesterday. The fire was confined to the basement. According to a preliminary investigation, a burning cigarette on a carpet might have started the blaze.
