On Dec. 25, 1943, the Baltimore Sunpapers produced a Christmas radio show featuring soldiers from the 29th Infantry Division and 8th Air Force from bases in England. The hour-long program, which aired on WFRB Radio in Baltimore and on nine other stations in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania, featured 55 men and women from the army, air force and Red Cross, either sending Christmas greetings to loved ones back home, singing or performing musical numbers.

This year, to mark the 70th anniversary of the program, The Sun and WYPR FM are going to make the program available in its entirety. WYPR will air the program on Midday with Dan Rodricks on Friday, December 20, with a rebroadcast on Christmas Eve. The Sun will have an interactive presentation starting Monday, December 23, where you can listen to the program and see photos and stories about the men and women who participated in the show.

We’re trying to track down people who were on the show, people related to them or who knew them well so we can find out more about them. If you have any information on these people, please contact us and let us know by emailing Paul McCardell (pmccardell@baltsun.com)  or Steve Sullivan (stsullivan@baltsun.com).
