Boys Lacrosse: Krampf's five goals earn St. Mary's playoff spot

Sophomore attackman Ian Krampf scored five goals as St. Mary's clinched a berth in the MIAA A Conference playoffs with a 10-8 win over Mount St. Joseph.

Junior attackman Taylor Bohanan had a goal and three assists for St. Mary's, which earned the sixth seed and will play at McDonogh (4:30) on Friday. Midfielder Jimmy Hayburn added a goal and an assist.

Long stick midfielder Christian LaFranchise scored a goal while close defenseman Cal Hadley shut down Mount St. Joseph's leading scorer. Goalie Aleric Fyock recorded 12 saves for the Saints, who outscored the Gaels 4-1 in the fourth quarter.

St. Mary's, the 2015 MIAA A Conference champion, is back in the playoffs one year after suffering through a 1-15 campaign.

"Making the playoffs is no easy feat in this league so I'm very proud of our boys," head coach Victor Lilly said. "Our goal every season at St. Mary's is to make the playoffs so this is a huge step. Now we'll see what happens in the second season."

SEVERN 8, SPALDING 5: Dylan Gergar scored four times and Ben Bedard added two as the Admirals defeated the Cavaliers in their regular season finale. Mike Lamon and Joel Mandish each added one goal and one helper and Stephen Miller saved 11 shots for Severn. Will Sherwood and Brett Baucia led Spalding with two goals apiece and Luke Legnard had two assists.

KEY 19, CONCORDIA PREP 0: Michael Jackson tallied six goals and two assists, Teddy Collinson added four goals and four sssists and Graham Wood netted four goals and had an assist as the Obezags blanked the Saints in the regular season finale. Tristan Allen and Joseph Oladimeji each had two goals and an assist, Michael Haldeman chipped in a goal and two assists and Dylan Smith dished off four assists for Key (13-2).
