Anne Arundel crews working on water main leak at Solley, North Shore roads

Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works said Monday that crews are managing a water main leak in the Glen Burnie/Pasadena area as they work to schedule repairs.

Matt Diehl, public information officer for the department, said the leak was discovered Saturday, and is a relatively "slow" leak. He said it's not known yet what caused it, but age and weather are "the usual suspects."

Officials said that due to the location of the affected pipe -- the intersection of Solley Road and North Shore Road -- the work will require a temporary shutdown of several sewage pump stations to complete.

DPW officials said they have equipment necessary to safeguard the environment and ensure excess flow doesn't reach a waterway. During operations, traffic control measures will be necessary, and drivers are asked to use caution and obey the signs and flagmen.

Officials said repairs will be scheduled to take place during night hours to limit the impact on residents. A timeline for the work will be announced later in the week, DPW officials said.
