A 24-year-old man was shot in Severn on Thursday night and then taken to get medical attention by people who happened to be passing by the area in a vehicle, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
Police received a call for a shooting in the area of Meade Village Circle and Meade Village Road, in the Meade Village public housing community, about 11:31 p.m., police said.
The caller had been in a vehicle with one other passenger driving in the area on Reece Road when their vehicle nearly struck the wounded man, police said. They took the man into their vehicle and drove him to a nearby location where dispatchers had directed police and medical personnel to meet them, police said.
The man had been shot in the upper body and was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.
Police said the victim has provided no suspect information, but the shooting "does not appear to a be a random act of violence."
