A woman's body was found on the side of a road in Pasadena on Tuesday evening, and police believe she may have been the victim of a hit-and-run.

In another pedestrian-involved collision Wednesday morning, a 69-year-old woman was struck by a car and critically injured in Gambrills.

Anne Arundel County police said their investigation into the Pasadena death is in its early stages and that the woman has not yet been identified. A resident notified police and firefighters to the body, found at about 5 p.m. near Bayside Beach Road and Belhaven Avenue in a wooded area just off the road.

On Wednesday, police said an initial investigation "revealed that the female may have been walking or standing" in a northbound travel lane of Bayside Beach Road when she was struck by a vehicle, and that "pedestrian error may have been a factor" in the collision.

The vehicle, which evidence at the scene suggested may have been a 1991 or 1992 Mercedes 500 series car, sustained damage to its right front turn signal assembly, police said.

It also may have damage to its hood and right fender, police said. Speed does not appear to be a factor, police said.

In Gambrills, officers responded to the intersection of Strawberry Lake Way and Black Gum Way about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday and found 69-year-old Ellen Sanna Foster, of Odenton, with possibly life-threatening injuries from being struck by a vehicle, police said.

Foster was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was listed in critical but stable condition, police said.

A preliminary investigation showed Foster was crossing the street outside of designated crosswalk areas when she was struck. Police said the "cause of the crash appears to be pedestrian error."

The driver, Michael Brent Haven, 64, of Odenton, remained at the scene. Alcohol and speeding do not appear to be factors, police said.
