Anne Arundel County police have arrested a Glen Burnie man who they believe is responsible for at least nine "smash and grab" burglaries through the county dating back to July.
Police allege David Edward Holland, 54, of Glen Burnie, has roamed the county burglarizing small businesses by using a tire iron to smash out glass front doors.
After a Sept. 20 incident at Parks Liquors in Deale, police said they used surveillance video to identify a car used in the crime, and later stopped Holland in a vehicle that matched the description. Police said burglary tools were located with additional evidence inside the vehicle. He was taken into custody.
Police said evidence led to Holland being charged in the following burglaries:
July 28 - Starbucks Coffee, 503 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park
July 28 - Jimmy Johns Subs, 537 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park
July 30 - Quizno's Subs, 7860 B Quarterfield Road, Severn
August 21 - Roundz Gourmet Market, 2299 Johns Hopkins Road, Gambrills
Sept. 11 - Floyds Barber Shop, 1117 Route 3 South, Crofton
Sept. 11 - Tobacco Shop, 332 Mountain Road, Glen Burnie
Sept. 17 - Rita's Italian Ice, 810-A Nursery Road, Linthicum
Sept. 17 - Pizza Bolis, 945 Central Avenue, Edgewater
Sept. 20, 2013 - Parks Liquors, 454 East Bay Front Road, Deale
Police said more charges could come — detectives are reviewing burglaries over the past 10 months that are similar in nature.
