U.S. Postal inspectors investigated a suspicious package near the Glen Burnie mall but the situation turned out to be harmless, Anne Arundel County police said.
An area near the H.H. Gregg retail store in the 6700 block of Ritchie Hwy was blocked off by police before 1 p.m. as federal investigators responded, Anne Arundel County Police Spokesman Lt. T.J. Smith said. The items in question turned out to be security tags, Smith said.
Smith did not have many details about the package but said police and firefighters typically handle suspicious items unless they were delivered, which is when postal investigators are called in.
