Police say tip led to arrest, seizure of $22K worth of marijuana

Anne Arundel County Police say a tip from a family member led to the arrest of a Glen Burnie man on charges of possession and intent to distribute drugs — as well as seizure of 2.4 pounds of marijuana with a street value of about $22,246.

Police said that on Sunday, officers were called to the 500 block of Wellham Ave., Glen Burnie, and received a tip from someone who told them they had found a large quantity of marijuana in a shed on a family member's property. Police said officers obtained a search warrant and found the marijuana, as well as packaging materials and paraphernalia that, police officials said, suggested possible distribution.

Officers were able to identify the suspect, and Monday at about 1:40 am, police found and arrested Wesley Byron Wheeler, 33, at the Extended Stay hotel in Glen Burnie.

Police said Wheeler has been charged with one count of possession marijuana, one count of possession with intent to distribute narcotics, 10 counts of possession of paraphernalia related to controlled dangerous substances, and other charges.
