Anne Arundel County police are investigating a double shooting in Brooklyn Park Friday afternoon.
Two people were injured in the shooting, which occurred at about 1:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Heights Park said Lt. T.J. Smith, a police spokesman. The victims were sitting on a park bench when two suspects approached them and started shooting at them.
The incident appeared to be targeted, police said. The victims, 22 and 24, are both from Brooklyn Park and were being treated for non-life threatening injuries. They were listed in stable condition.
A helicopter was used to assist in the search for suspects, Smith said. The suspects were described as two black males, one wearing a mask and hoodie, headed toward Brookwood Road.
Students at Park Elementary School, which is next to the library, were kept indoors and classes continued as usual, said Bob Mosier, a spokesman for the school system. Nobody was allowed into or out of the school and police were on campus.
Buses that take students home to the neighborhood from North County High School, Brooklyn Park Middle School and Glen Burnie High School's biomedical allied health program were kept at the schools. The students' parents were contacted to make alternate arrangements to get their children home.
