A woman was taken to a hospital with smoke inhalation after escaping a two-alarm fire in an apartment complex in Glen Burnie early Tuesday morning, Anne Arundel County fire officials said.
Firefighters found heavy fire in a top-floor apartment in the 200 block of Water Fountain Court after being called shortly before 5 a.m., fire officials said. About 55 firefighters from Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City fought the blaze, which was considered under control after about 35 minutes. One woman was taken to a hospital with smoke inhalation injuries that were considered non-life-threatening, fire officials said. A firefighter was also taken to a hospital after slipping at the scene, but his injuries were considered minor.
The apartment where the fire began was considered a total loss, and 11 other units were damaged by smoke and water, fire officials said. There was no official estimate of how many residents were displaced or how much the damage cost.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
