Anne Arundel Co. has fourth fire fatality this year

Anne Arundel County had its fourth fire fatality this year on Friday after a 72-year-old man died five days after being found with third-degree burns in his home, according to county fire department officials.

On Sunday morning at 9:30, firefighters were dispatched to a dwelling fire in the 600 block of Sunset Strip of the Brooklyn area, where they found Brice Clements with second- and third-degree burns to both arms and his upper torso in a room. Both the room and its contents were on fire. More firefighters were dispatched to the scene, and ultimately 25 brought the incident under control.

Clements was transported by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries. He died on Friday, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials said that it originated in the bedroom and added that smoke alarms did not activate because the fire was minimal in size.
