Anne Arundel Co. man charged with police impersonation

A man was arrested Tuesday after pulling over a vehicle while pretending to be a police officer, Anne Arundel County police said.

Jonathan Lee Connor, 31, of the 1200 block of Steamboat Road in Shady Side faces charges of impersonating a police officer, false imprisonment and traffic violations after he allegedly pulled over a male victim in the area of Shady Side Road near Dent Road at around 5:45 p.m.

Connor turned on lights mounted in his tan Chevrolet Caprice to get the victim to pull over, according to police. He then approached the victim's car and told him that he was speeding.

The victim became suspicious and drove away because Connor was not wearing a uniform or showing credentials, police said. Officers located a Caprice with emergency lights and antennas that resembled a police vehicle in the driveway of a residence nearby.

Connor, who owns the vehicle, was arrested after police said he matched a description of the suspect provided by the victim.
