Two charged in second drug bust in Brooklyn Park in two days

Two Baltimore men face drug charges after detectives found drugs and cash in their car during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Park Thursday night, police said — the second such bust in the neighborhood in two days.

Sharod Deon Burris, 29, of the 3500 block of 4th Street in Brooklyn, and Quran Dewayne Cox, 25, of the 900 block of Beban Street in Sharp-Leadenhall, were charged with a traffic violation and drug charges, police said.

Detectives conducting “drug enforcement” about 9 p.m. stopped a vehicle near Ritchie Highway and 16th Avenue for an expired registration, police said. When they approached the vehicle, they could smell “a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside.”

A search of the vehiclefound 164 clear capsules of suspected heroin/fentanyl, 62 individually packaged baggies of suspected crack cocaine, 18 small individual containers of suspected marijuana, 15 suspected tramadol pills, and $1,756 in cash, police said.

Burris faces five felony drug charges and seven misdemeanors; he waived an attorney at his initial court appearance and was released on his own recognizance Friday, according to Maryland’s online judiciary case records.

Cox’s charges were not listed as of Friday.

Neither could be reached to comment.

The drug bust on Wednesday netted a similar haul — 111 capsules of suspected heroin/fentanyl, 21 vials of crack cocaine, 15 of suspected oxycodone and $2,249 in cash, according to police.

Bryant Lamont Adams, 27, and Rashemee Ia Lee, 39, were charged in that incident, police said.

Detectives do not believe the two incidents are related, said Lt. Ryan Frashure, an Anne Arundel County Police spokesman.

Drug enforcement detectives stopped Adams and Lee’s car about the same time, near Patrick Henry Drive and Church Street, for an “equipment violation,” police said. A drug detection dog alerted the officers to the presence of drugs, police said.
