Annapolis police search for suspect in attempted bank robbery

Annapolis police are searching for a man they say attempted to rob a Bank of America on Bay Ridge Road on Friday afternoon.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Gregory Klemkowski, 22, of Annapolis, charging him with attempted robbery.

Police say that at about 4:45 p.m. Friday, Klemkowski entered the bank and handed an employee a note demanding money.

Employees barricaded themselves and alerted police, and Klemkowski fled, police said.

He was last seen in a gray hooded sweatshirt with Nike on the front and may be traveling in a tan or silver Mazda sedan with Maryland War of 1812 tags.

Police described Klemkowski as “critically missing.” Prior to the bank robbery, a “series of incidents led family members to be concerned for Klemkowski’s welfare,” police said in a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to call 410-260-3439 or, in an emergency, 911.
