A woman pepper sprayed more than two dozen people after being confronted trying to steal a pair of boots at Arundel Mills Mall Sunday afternoon, Anne Arundel police said.
The woman, who police identified as Cierra Bianca Scott, 24, of the 5000 block of Brookwood Rd. in Baltimore, ran with the boots after spraying the pepper spray in the store. She then pulled a knife on a security guard who stopped her outside Off Broadway Shoes in the mall around 3:45 p.m., police said.
The security guard took the knife from her, and she sprayed him with the pepper spray, police said. The guard managed to take the pepper spray and turn it on Scott before she was taken into custody, police said.
Scott and a store employee were taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center to be treated for pepper spray exposure. The others, who police said were in the store at the time and numbered between 25 and 30, were treated at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire personnel.
Scott has been charged with robbery, theft, reckless endangerment and many counts of second-degree assault, police said.
