Pasadena man identified after Glen Burnie motorcycle crash

Anne Arundel County police have identified a 52-year-old Pasadena man who died in a motorcycle crash in Glen Burnie Saturday evening.

Officers found Jason Alton Cockrell lying in a wooded area next to Nabbs Creek Road near Francis Road in the Brightwater Beach community at about 6:45 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

According to police, Cockrell had just left the Nabbs Creek Caféand was riding his 1998 custom-built motorcycle west on Nabbs Creek Road with two other motorcyclists.

As the three approached Francis Road, police said an unknown compact car may have crossed the center line and encroached the westbound lane. The rider in front of Cockrell laid down his motorcycle to prevent a collision, and Cockrell swerved off the roadway into the woods, where he was thrown from the bike, according to police.

Cockrell was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet, according to police, and alcohol and speed appear to be contributing factors.

Another motorcyclist was transported to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center but was treated and released, police said.
