Glen Burnie man fatally stabbed; woman charged with murder

A Glen Burnie man died from his wounds after a stabbing Tuesday inside his home, and a woman who lived with him has been charged with murder.

James Gray Pfaff Jr., 47, of the unit block of Fifth Ave. in Glen Burnie, died Wednesday from stab wounds to the upper torso, county police said in a news release. Phyllis Marie Amonica, 38, of the same address has been charged with first- and second-degree murder.

According to police, officers from the Northern District responded to a call about a domestic dispute at the residence about 8:27 p.m. Tuesday. They found a man suffering from a stab wound to the torso and a woman suffering from minor cuts. Both were taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where Pfaff died Wednesday morning.

According to police, a preliminary investigation indicated that the man and woman lived together and were behind their residence when they became involved in a "verbal altercation" that "turned physical."

The pair went inside the home, where investigators say the woman stabbed the man. The cause of the woman's wounds was not known, police said. Detectives from the county's Homicide Unit are leading the investigation.
