Car strikes gas station near BWI

A car ran into a gas station near BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Thursday afternoon, striking a natural gas line and causing a road closure, airport officials said.

The car struck the Shell station on Aviation Boulevard near the north cargo area shortly after 2 p.m., said Jonathan Dean, an airport spokesman.

When the car struck the gas station, it damaged a natural gas line. Aviation Boulevard was closed between Camp Meade Road and the light rail tracks until the gas line could be secured, Dean said.

No injuries were reported.
