The department is recruiting volunteers, 16 and older, to serve both as firefighters and to assist with administrative tasks. Current needs include firefightersEMTs, building maintenance, public outreach and fire safety education, fundraising, event planning, and administrative assistance. Speakers, Tutors, Achievement, Retention, Success (STARS) needs men and women to work as mentors and/or tutors to students between ages 16 and 24. The organization offers tutoring from 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. Tutors may work one or both days each week.
