Arundel Public Library

The library seeks a volunteer, 16 or older, to assist with scanning a large archive of historical photographs and clippings, uploading the images to Flickr and entering any data written on the photos. Accuracy and careful handling of delicate items are important, as is the ability to work independently. All work will take place at library headquarters, 5 Harry S. Truman Parkway in Annapolis. Hours are flexible between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Training will be provided. For more information, email spetruso@aacpl.net.

Historic London Town

Those interested in history and/or horticulture are needed as docents, interpreters and gardeners. Volunteers give tours or demonstrate Colonial crafts and daily life. They may also work in historic or ornamental gardens. Information: 410-222-1919, ext. 204 or go to historiclondontown.org.

STARS

Speakers, Tutors, Achievement, Retention, Success (STARS) needs men and women to work as mentors and/or tutors to students ages 16 to 24. The organization offers tutoring from 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. Tutors may work one or both days each week. Tawes Garden & Shop

Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of gardening tasks, including planting, watering, weeding and mulching. Also needed are tour guides to assist the teacher-naturalist with large groups. Year-round programs need chaperons for field trips as well as assistants for nature programs. Shopkeepers are needed for two-hour shifts on a weekly or semimonthly basis in the gift shop at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources in Annapolis. Visitor Center

Volunteers are needed at the West Street Visitors Center and City Dock Booth to provide visitors with information. Help is also needed with computer data entry. Completion of a training program and a three-month provisional period is required of new volunteers; participation in ongoing training and continuing education is required.
