Varicose veins Joseph McClain of Maryland Vein Professionals will speak at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, on why varicose veins should not be considered a cosmetic problem but a sign of venous insufficiency, a disorder of the circulatory system. Free screenings will take place after the presentation.
Jewelry sale The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7-9. A bake sale will be held in conjunction with the jewelry sale May 7. Proceeds benefit programs at the center.
Flea market and bake sale Donations are needed for a flea market being held May 21-22 at the center. All items should be clean and in working order (no clothing, big furniture or old computers). Baked goods are needed for a bake sale May 21. Items can be brought to the center that morning. The center opens at 8 a.m., and the flea market and bake sale begin at 9 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the center.
•The trip committee is accepting reservations for a trip May 19-22 to Victorian Cape May, N.J. Accommodations will be at the oceanfront Grand Hotel. The cost is $640 per person double occupancy; single, $780; and triple, $620.
•The trip committee is accepting reservations for a European river cruise on the Danube. The Aug. 2-13 trip includes visits to Prague, Budapest and Vienna. The price depends on the cabin.
