Future

Lecture Donna Hill Staton, a member of the Maryland Board of Education, will give the keynote address, "Protecting Our Children, Protecting Our Future," at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 12 in St. John's College's Francis Scott Key Auditorium, 60 College Ave. in Annapolis. The address is part of the Jan. 12-13 weekend of events at the college honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The event is free. Winter luncheon series Former newspaper editor Tom Marquardt will be the opening speaker Jan. 16 at the Captain Salem Avery House Museum, 1418 E. West Shady Side Road. The series will continue every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. through Feb. 20, and feature speakers on a variety of historical and cultural subjects.
