Concert Swampcandy performs its brand of Mississippi blues from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. as Historic London Town and Gardens' summer concert series continues at 839 Londontown Road in Edgewater. Outdoor concerts The Sachs Memorial Summer Jazz Series continues with Zack Smith and the Dixie Power Trio at 6 p.m. at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, 801 Chase St. in Annapolis. Party The Bowie Baysox host a "Football Kickoff Party" as the team takes on the Erie SeaWolves at 7:05 p.m. in the final home game of the season at Prince George's Stadium. The event includes a two-hour buffet and three-hour open bar in the Diamond View restaurant. Food is served from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Party tickets are $44; $39 for ticket-plan holders. Crab derby The Annapolis Maritime Museum hosts its first "Annapolis Crab Derby" from noon to 6 p.m. at 723 Second St. Festivities include live crab races, a crab shell painting contest, live music, a magic show, a crab-picking contest, human crab crawl races and more. The derby winner will receive a custom plank at the museum's Planks for the Memories Program, and the winner of the 2012 Maryland Largest Hard Crab Tournament will be announced. Future

Pops concert The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra performs its annual Lexus Pops in the Park concert at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at Quiet Waters Park, 600 Quiet Waters Park Road in Annapolis. Admission to the park is free for the concert. Concessions will be available, and visitors may bring food, blankets and lawn chairs. Alcohol is not allowed. Stargazing "Community Observing Night," sponsored by the AACC Astronomy Club, begins at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8. Bring your own telescope and binoculars or use one of the eight telescopes provided by the club to view planets, stars and the moon. Beach bash The Annapolis Maritime Museum will host its annual Boatyard Beach Bash from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, 723 Second St. Among the musical guests are the John Frinzi Band, Coral Reefer steel guitar great Doyle Grisham, Jim Morris and James "Sunny Jim" White. Golf Friends of Broadneck Park will hold a golf tournament fundraiser at Bay Hills Golf Club on Sept. 15. The purpose of the event is to raise funds to improve the playground at Broadneck Park on College Parkway in Annapolis. Tournament tickets are $85 and include goody bags, green fee and cart, a hot dog at registration, an unlimited beverage cart while on course, complimentary greens fee pass and a coupon for the pro shop. AACC gala Anne Arundel Community College will hold a gala Oct. 13 at the Westin Baltimore Washington Airport-BWI, 1110 Old Elkridge Landing Road in Linthicum. The "2012 Gala — Welcome to our Future" event will be an evening of dinner and dancing and will offer attendees a chance to meet AACC's sixth president, Dawn Lindsay. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7:15 p.m. A program and dancing will follow. Tickets are $200, and proceeds support student scholarships and academic initiatives.
