'Moving at the Speed of Life'
The Dignity Players presents this one-woman show, written and performed by Kris Valerio, July 7-10 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 Dubois Road. Foreign exchange student
The Rotary Club of Annapolis seeks candidates for its International Outbound High School Foreign Exchange Student program. The opening is for a nine-month period in the fall of 2012. The student must be between ages 15 and 181/2 at departure for overseas. Interviews will be held Sept. 6-8. The club will consider 10 candidates on a first-come, first-serve basis. Further potential interviews, including parents, will be held in early November in York, Pa. Announcement of selectees will be made later in November during an overnight outing in York, which includes meeting current exchange students. The Colonial Players production of the comedy "The Shape of Things" is on stage through June 25 at 108 East St. in Annapolis. Workshops for adults
Adults can explore their creative side in one-day workshops at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, 801 Chase St. in Annapolis. Workshops are for a variety of skill levels.
•"Fused-Glass Dish." Participants learn glass-cutting and -fusing basics to create a colorful and functional glass bowl or plate. 6:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Thursday, June 23. $35 tuition, $25 membership, $10 registration.
•"Wheel Workshop." Introduction to the potter's wheel, where participants learn how to wedge and center the clay, and how to throw two basic forms: the bowl and the cylinder. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 24. $40 tuition, $25 membership, $10 registration.
•"The Clothed Figure in Pastel." Workshop focuses on the basics of capturing the attitude of the figure using pastels. Instruction covers the use of color, line and body proportion. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 25. $90 tuition, $25 membership, $10 registration fee.

"Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake," a themed event for children, returns for another season in Annapolis harbor. Children can get their faces painted, dress as pirates and participate in a treasure hunt on the water. Search for sunken treasure while using water cannons in defense against enemy pirates.
