Triathlon set April 14

The 6th Annual Emily Schindler Memorial Triathlon will be held April 14 in Severna Park.

The 800-yard swim, 91/2-mile bike ride and 3-mile run will be held at the SPY Aquatics Center, 623 Baltimore/Annapolis Blvd. and on the Baltimore/Annapolis Trail. Participants may also sign up for the "Flamingo Feat" distance of a 1,600 yard swim, 18 mile bike ride and six -mile run.

Check-in begins at 6 a.m. and the first wave of swimmers starts at 7 a.m. Fee is $50, $90 for a relay team of two and $135 for a three-person relay team.

Rotary scholarships

The Rotary Club of Annapolis is accepting scholarship applications from seniors graduating from Annapolis high schools, including home-schooled students.

Up to four cash scholarship awards of $1,000 each are available to area students who plan to attend an accredited college or university and who have demonstrated a commitment to community service.

Relatives of Rotary members are ineligible. Deadline for applications is April 1.

'Rocky Horror'

Anne Arundel Community College Theatre will hold auditions for its April production of this British comedy at 7 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 13-14, at the Robert E. Kauffman Theater, Pascal Center for Performing Arts, 101 College Parkway. Arnold.

Arts center gala

The Chesapeake Arts Center's annual gala will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Four Points by Sheraton BWI Airport, 7032 Elm Road.

This year's theme, "Believe in Magic," is in honor of Harry Houdini's birthday. Music will be provided by the acoustic duo Rick and Regina. In addition, magician Spencer Horsman will perform a show to honor Houdini. Evening includes hors d' oeuvres, an open bar, dinner, dancing and a silent auction.

Human relations panel

The county Human Relations Commission is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy.

The 11-member commission is a volunteer body established to promote fairness, eliminate discrimination and harassment in both public and private sectors, and advance understanding and effective communication among people of different backgrounds and cultures.
