Thomas Saunders is pictured in his home with a lot of Baltimore memorabilia. On the wall at left is Thelonious Monk, jazz musician. The picture second from left is Margaret Burroughs, museum director. The drawing behind Saunders by artist Matthew ("Bay-bay") Williams, depicts clockwise from left: Frederick Douglas, Billie Holiday; Thurgood Marshall; and Harriet Tubman. The church in the lower right corner is Orchard St. Church, home of the underground railroad. The color painting at right is Haitian. Saunders is holding a poster of B. B. King. Both B. B. King and Monk were part of the "Chitlin' Circuit" - black performers who played to black crowds. They both performed at Carr's Beach.
