A Hanover teenager was ordered held on $1.5 million bail Wednesday, after Anne Arundel County police charged him as an adult with an armed carjacking that led to the lockdown of two schools Tuesday and his nearby arrest.

Police said a man told them that he was carjacked about 1:17 p.m. Tuesday as he returned to his vehicle near Arundel Mills mall by a man who pointed a handgun at him and told him to hand over his keys and empty his pockets. The carjacker left in the man's Infiniti, police said.

Soon after, a car with the same description pulled into the parking lot of Meade High School on Annapolis Road, police said. When an officer tried to stop it, the driver jumped out and ran, according to police.

Meade High and Middle schools were locked down as officers on the ground and in a helicopter searched the area, police said.

A handgun was found in the Infiniti, according to police.

Police arrested Adrian Lamar Loney, 16, of the 1400 block of Gesna Drive, Hanover, who was found in a nearby residential area, and charged him with armed carjacking and related counts. Police said he was not hurt when arrested but was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center for treatment of a chronic health problem.
