Midshipman accused of setting fires on campus

The Naval Academy is in the process of disenrolling a midshipman accused of setting 11 small fires on campus in September, a spokesman said Wednesday.

The trash can fires were set in men's bathrooms between Sept. 9 and 23, Cmdr. John Schofield said. All were quickly extinguished.

The midshipman was apprehended on Sept. 24, Schofield said. He is no longer at the academy.

Schofield said he was prevented by law from providing further information.
