California man indicted on allegations he solicited Arundel teen

A California man has been indicted for alleged sexual solicitation of an Anne Arundel County teenager he met online, according to Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess.

Murray Lee Chesak, 25, of Ontario, Calif., was indicted Friday and was extradited to Maryland on Monday, according to the state's attorney's office. He was charged with four counts of sexual solicitation of a minor, soliciting child pornography and displaying obscene material to a minor.

On March 10, a father reported to Anne Arundel County police he believed his 15-year-old daughter was communicating online with an adult from California. The state's attorney's office said the father installed spyware on his daughter's phone and computer and determined she had been communicating with a man online. Officials said the father believed the man had scheduled a trip from California and planned to meet his daughter in Annapolis.

Investigators contacted Chesak on April 3, and the state's attorney's office said Chesak confirmed he had made reservations to fly to Maryland and stay at a hotel in Annapolis. He indicated he knew the girl's age.

Officials said he is being held without bond at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.
