Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman has named Richard C. "Rook" Rogers as her chief of staff.
Rogers fills a position that had been vacant since late September, when David Cordle left without explanation.
Cordle is a former Republican alderman in Annapolis and former investigator for the Anne Arundel State's Attorney's Office. Neuman was selected over Cordle and several others last February when the county council picked a replacement for John R. Leopold, who resigned after being convicted of misconduct.
Rogers was chief executive officer of E-Landscape and Specialty Solutions in Davidsonville, according to the county executive's office. Before that, he was vice president of McKinney Drilling Company, retiring in 2010.
Rogers also is involved with local charities and worked with the statewide Inter-County Broadband Network.
Rogers' salary is $130,000 and he started Monday.
