Two men were shot and injured in separate robberies Monday night and early Tuesday morning in Annapolis, though police said both were expected to survive.

In the first incident, Brett Shumaker, 32, of Harwood, attempted to fight two men trying to rob him as he walked on a footbridge near the unit block of Silopanna Road and was shot multiple times, police said. The men, one armed with a gun and the other with a knife, approached Shumaker at around 10 p.m. Monday and demanded his belongings, while Shumaker pulled out a knife and tried to fight back.

Shumaker was shot by the suspects amid the scuffle and ran away, and police found him sitting in the middle of the road. He was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center for his injuries but they are not believed to be life threatening, police said.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday, police found another man with multiple gunshot wounds outside of an apartment complex in the 900 block of President St., less than two miles from the previous shooting. SieFullah Bridges, 36, of Philadelphia, was approached by three men, robbed of his wallet, and shot. He was taken to Shock Trauma with serious injuries.

Arrests have not been made in either case, and police do not believe the incidents are related. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Annapolis police at 410-268-9000.
