A man was robbed by two hitchhikers who flagged him down for a ride in Annapolis Tuesday night.

The victim was driving on Bywater Road at around 11 p.m. when he stopped to help two men on foot, according to Annapolis police. The driver agreed to give the travelers a ride to Admiral Drive and West Street.

Upon reaching the destination, one robber pointed a gun at the victim while the other began poking him in the ribs with a knife and demanding money, police said. The attackers then ordered the victim to drive to the 200 block of Croll Drive where they stole his wallet and car keys.

The suspects exited the vehicle and fled the scene after one hit the victim on the side of the head with the gun.

The driver's iPhone 5 was also stolen.

The victim suffered an abrasion on his forehead and a small cut between his thumb and forefinger, but he refused medical treatment.
