South River, Arundel to meet in region final

Savannah Doctor had 15 kills and 10 digs and went 12 for 12 serving with an ace, while Samanta Tarabella also had 15 kills and 10 digs, as South River (14-3) powered past Leonardtown, 25-22, 25-17, 25-16 in the Class 4A East Region Section II final on Wednesday. Emily Speciale was 14 for 14 serving with 34 assists and seven digs, while Erin Canter had seven digs for South River, which will play Arundel in the region final.

ARUNDEL 3, SEVERNA PARK 0: Chyna Gubbings had 11 kills and 16 digs, while Mackenzie Meehan had five kills and five blocks as the Wildcats defeated the Falcons in the Class 4A East Region Section I final, 25-16, 25-20, 25-17.

Chloe Campbell had six kills for Severna Park (9-7). Ally Winship and Julia Roy had five kills and Madi Mason added four for the Falcons. Arundel (17-0) will host South River for the region championship Friday at 5:30. The Wildcats rallied from down 18-11 in the second set by closing the set out on a 14-2 run.

BOYS SOCCER

FALLSTON 2, KENT ISLAND 0: After a scoreless tie at the half, the Buccaneers conceded a goal in the first minute of the second half before the Cougars finished it off with another goal in the last minute, knocking Kent Island out in the Class 2A East Region final for the second straight year.
