Volleyball: Old Mill gets in win column

Rachel Lee notched six kills, two digs and two aces and Sheridan Smith had 13 aces, eight digs, a kill and two aces for Old Mill as it grabbed its first win, beating North County in straight sets 25-20, 25-21, 25-19 on Wednesday.

Catlyn King had three kills, three digs and two aces and Mariah Straker added two kills, a block and an ace for the Patriots (1-5). The Knights move to 1-6.

CHESAPEAKE 3, CHESAPEAKE SCIENCE POINT 0: Ally Fisher had five aces and six kills for the Cougars, who prevailed 25-10, 25-8, 25-12. Tara Gabrielsen had seven aces and Dorothy Hood had two aces and two kills for Chesapeake (4-4).

SEVERNA PARK 3, ANNAPOLIS 0: Skyler Sale led with eight kills and Siena DeCicco had 19 assists and three aces as the Falcons soared past the Panthers. Georgia Marriner and Emily Krasic added four kills apiece for Severna Park (2-5). Sabrina Gleitz went 11 for 11 serving with three aces and two kills for Annapolis (1-6), while teammate Jazmyne Matthews was 7 for 8 serving with three kills and two blocks and Jewel Crumbley had seven kills.

BROADNECK 3, SOUTHERN 0: Neely Winter tallied six kills, three digs and five aces as the Bruins beat the Bulldogs, 25-14, 25-11, 25-15. Madison Chadwick added four kills, three aces and eight digs for Broadneck (3-3). Southern is 2-4.

GLEN BURNIE 3, NORTHEAST 1: Sylvia Frye had four kills and five aces, Irelynn Dunn had three kills and two aces and Sheianne Turner had five kills for the Gophers (2-6). The sets fell 25-21, 25-13, 15-25 and 25-20.

HUNTINGTOWN 3, SOUTH RIVER 1: Valarie Kandare went 11 for 12 serving with an ace and Erin Canter had 14 kills but the Seahawks (5-1) could not rally back against the Hurricanes (8-1). Huntingtown won 25-17, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23. Jessica Adams was 14 for 14 serving with four kills and four digs while Emily Speciale was 13 for 13 from the service line with 21 assists and an ace. Samanta Tarabella added 10 kills while going a perfect 7 for 7 serving for South River.
