Lawn's overtime goal caps Spalding's comeback

Margot Lawn scored the game-winning goal six minutes into overtime, having been set up by a pass from Jenna Garden and a deflection by Shelby Bumgarner, and helped the Archbishop Spalding field hockey team defeat Garrison Forest, 3-2, on Wednesday.

Spalding (7-4) rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit on goals by Sarah Jordan and Olivia Malamphy. Payton Kenney and Lawn each added assists and Jess Norton had four saves for the Cavaliers.

ROLAND PARK 3, ST. MARY’S 1: Hope Davis scored for the Saints, who fell to 2-8-1.

GLENELG COUNTRY 3, SEVERN 1: Libby Wild scored the lone goal and Jillian North made three saves for the Admirals (6-4).

INDIAN CREEK FALLS: Anthony Corrado turned in a team-best time of 20 minutes, 15 seconds, but the Eagles lost to Boys Latin, 23-34, and St. Mary’S, 16-39.

Liam Lonergan finished in 20:30 and Jonathan Levy came in at 21:15 for his best time of the season for Indian Creek.


KENT ISLAND 3, KENT COUNTY 0: Bethany Doyle’s 10 aces paced the Buccaneers (6-4), who took sets 27-25, 25-12 and 25-22. Desiree Hanks had nine digs, Alyssa Sofinowski had five digs, Katie Sonneveldt made eight blocks and Hannah Scott had six kills.
