West makes 12 saves in Southern field hockey win

Carlea West made 12 saves and Southern received goals from Rachel Gibson, Dalanie Tompkins and Hannah Cihocki in a 3-1 victory over Northeast on Wednesday. The Bulldogs improved to 6-4.

Sydney Makarovich scored off an assist from Jocelyn Povlitz and Carly Gernert made 13 saves for the Eagles (4-7).

SEVERN 5, IND 1: Alana Miller scored twice and Libby Wild had a goal and an assist as Severn topped IND. Abi Poindexter and Sophie Oliver also tallied goals for the Admirals (4-3). Jillian North made four saves.

KEY 4, OLDFIELDS 1: Delaney Snowden scored twice and MiMi Cheston and Trinity McCauley also had goals for the Obezags in their win over the Dragons. Catie Caterham assisted McCauley’s goal for Key (2-3-1).

ST. PAUL’S 2, AACS 1: Julia Moe scored for the Eagles (2-4-1) off an assist by Sydney White. Arianna Crawley made eight saves. St. Paul’s outshot AACS 15-14.

MCDONOGH 1, ARCHBISHOP SPALDING 0 (OT): Haley Urgo and Caitlin Koehler led a strong defensive effort by the Cavaliers, who came up short in overtime to the Eagles. Spalding (5-3) took 10 corners compared to McDonogh’s one.

MARYVALE PREP 3, INDIAN CREEK 0: Kendyl Underwood saved 19 shots for the Eagles, but they fell to the Lions.

OLD MILL 13, GLEN BURNIE 0: Jade Kakuk had two goals and an assist and Mia D’Antoni and Lyndsay Wilson each had a pair of goals as the Patriots (3-4) cruised over the Gophers (0-8). Kaiya Sabur had a goal and two assists while Stella Cote, Alyssa Bashford, Emma Fontz and Erin Osborne each had a goal and an assist. Allyna Threatt and Shleby Kingston also scored for Old Mill.

SEVERNA PARK 4, ANNAPOLIS 0: Rachel Lewis, Lila Slattery, Bella Blumenberg and Emme Sayers scored for the Falcons as they improved to 9-0. Molly Murnane made 18 saves for the Panthers (5-2).
