Girls Soccer: Gleeson's header sends South River to victory

Elizabeth Gleeson headed in a cross from Riley Dillahay 20 minutes into the second half to give South River a 1-0 victory over Chesapeake on Wednesday.

Madison Scott and Colleen Wagner combined for three saves for South River (5-2).

NORTHEAST 4, GLEN BURNIE 0: Alison Clark, Jenna Donohue, Kaliegh Cassell and Kinlee Bruns scored goals as the Eagles (2-3) blanked Glen Burnie. Samantha Baysic had two saves for Northeast.

Brooke McCormick had 11 saves for the Gophers (1-5-1).

SEVERNA PARK 6, ANNAPOLIS 1: Tony Fiocco-Mizer scored a pair of goals while Leah Meyers, Jenna Farrell, Lauren Campbell and Sarah Gellert all found the net as the Falcons (6-1-1) bested the Panthers. Gellert added an assist and Elizabeth Kiely, Abby McGuire and Emily Knight also added helpers for Severna Park. Ady Holmes made 18 saves for Annapolis.

OLD MILL 5, NORTH COUNTY 0: Braelyn South scored three times and Aileen Rivera and Morgan Tongue also scored as the Patriots (4-2-2) blanked the Knights (0-6). Kasi Doss made two saves and Celia Metzer made four to preserve the shutout. Madelyn Ault stopped 17 shots for North County.

ARUNDEL 3, MEADE 0: Tierney Crehan and Ashytn Bethal each scored goals and Jenna Fulmer added an assist as the Wildcats (2-6) defeated the Mustangs (2-5).

BROADNECK 2, SOUTHERN 0: Makenna Dean and Jenna Buto both scored as the Bruins (7-1) beat the Bulldogs. Talia Gabarra and Tobin Chambers each had an assist for Broadneck while Maddie Sturgell made 12 saves for the Bulldogs (3-2-1).

KENT ISLAND 7, EASTON 0: Madalyn Messersmith scored a pair of goals to lead the Buccaneers (5-2) past the Warriors. Jordan Grard, Grace Schiling, Kendall Embrey, Ally Heath and McKenzie Mogel each scored for Kent Island.
