Boys soccer roundup: Gauthier provides spark in Severn win

Nathan Gauthier netted a pair of second-half goals to rally Severn to a 2-1 victory over Concordia Prep on Thursday in boys soccer.

Nick Angelino provided an assist for Severn (11-3).

SEVERNA PARK 7, NORTHEAST 0: Camden Handwerger, Colin Wolfe, Gordie Bernlohr, Kyle Jefferds, Zach Plummer, Declan Byrne and Jackson Merrill each scored a goal as the Falcons downed the Eagles (2-7-1). Nate Carey, Evan Blamphin and Gus Bachmann had an assist apiece and Braden Mondor and Ben McLay combined for two saves to preserve the shutout for Severna Park (9-3-1).

SOUTHERN 2, NORTH COUNTY 0: Matt Smith scored a goal and grabbed an assist in the Bulldogs’ rain-shortened victory over the Knights (4-4-1). Ronaldo Gutierrez scored the other goal for Southern (6-4-2). The game was called due to inclement weather with 11 minutes remaining.

JOHN CARROLL 2, SPALDING 1: Alex Flores scored for the Cavaliers, but John Carroll took the game off a successful penalty kick with less than two minutes to play. Spalding fell to 6-4.

KEY 5, ST. JOHN’S 1: Zack Glime scored three goals, as the Obezags conquered the Vikings. Drew Loughlin scored twice, Marshall Tanz, Daniel Fagbohunka and Will Edwards each recorded an assist and Will Edwards made three saves for Key (9-0-1).

ROCKBRIDGE 6, PERRY HALL CHRISTIAN 1: Sam Geverdt, Ju Young Park, Joel Pasquarelli, Zach Reardon and Jude Gannett each scored at the Scots beat Perry Hall Christian. Nathan Davenport and Chris Crane notched assists and Alex Lawing made seven saves for Rockbridge (7-4-1).
