Boys soccer: Key benefits from pair of own goals to win

Zack Glime scored on a cross from Nico Montenegro, and Key benefited from two own goals by Mount Carmel in a 3-1 victory on Wednesday.

Glime sent a cross into the box that careened off a Cougars player for one of the own goals. Obezags head coach Dylan Lewis called the other one “a comedy of errors” on Mount Carmel’s part.

Jackson Smith and Craig Martien each made three saves splitting time in goal for Key (7-2).

MCDONOGH 3, ARCHBISHOP SPALDING 1: Austin Werner scored with an assist from Spencer Sherman, but the Cavaliers fell short to the Eagles. Kyle Edwards made five saves for Spalding (3-8-1).

INDIAN CREEK 2, ST. JOHN’S CATHOLIC PREP 0: Sammy Carter scored one goal and assisted the other as the Eagles defeated the Vikings. Levi Klein scored the other goal for Indian Creek (3-4).

BOYS’ LATIN 3, SEVERN 2 (OT): Phil Bartholomi and Nate Gauthier scored the Admirals’ goals, but they came up short in overtime to the Lakers. Devin McCarthy and Evan Butler had the assists and Trevor Shanahan made seven saves for Severn (5-6).

SEVERNA PARK 6, ANNAPOLIS 0: Keaton Bathras had a hat trick plus two assists in the Faclons’ rout of the Panthers. Drew Belloff put up a goal and two assists and Nate Carey and Griffin Bathras also scored for Severna Park (8-0). Annapolis is 2-5-1.

NORTHEAST 1, GLEN BURNIE 0: Donnie Keefe scored on an assist from Cesar Alonso to help the Eagles (2-6) edge the Gophers (1-4-1). Zac Bergeron made two saves for Northeast, who outshout the Gophers 7-5. Justin Bradley made seven saves for the Gophers.

ST. MARY’S 2, CONCORDIA PREP 0: Sam Friel scored on a corner kick and Lachlan Hertel scored on an assist from Patrick Ruland to help the St. Mary’s shutout Concordia Prep. Chris Spindler had eight saves for the Saints (1-7-1).

MEADE 2, ARUNDEL 1: Silas Baker and Keelan Fedison each scored for the Mustangs (7-1) as they held off the Wildcats (2-4-1). Graham Bussink added an assist for Meade who led 2-1 at the half. Dexter Martin scored the lone Wildcat goal.

CHESAPEAKE 1, SOUTH RIVER 1: Ethan Belcher turned away 18 of the South Rivers’ 32 shots on goal in the draw for the Cougars (3-3-2). Andrew Colebrook scored an unassisted goal. Andrew Duswalt scored off an assist from Shane Spicknall for the Seahawks (5-1-2) and Kyle Berkowitz had six saves.

BROADNECK 2, SOUTHERN 0: No other information was provided.
