Boys basketball: Davis, Datko lead Broadneck past St. Mary's

Shane Davis scored 19 points and Chad Datko added 11 points and 10 rebounds as Broadneck opened the season with a 90-66 win over St. Mary’s in boys basketball action on Tuesday. Jamar Young netted 14 points and Che Colbert accumulated 12 for the Bruins (1-0).

Patrick Devitt led all scorers with 23 points, Cam Brown posted 11 and JR Unegbu added nine for the Saints (0-3).

MARYLAND SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF 82, ROCKBRIDGE 21: David Lytikainen led the Scots with nine points and Tim Tatterson scored seven, but they lost to the Orioles. Tobi Ajuwon had a team-high eight rebounds for Rockbridge (0-1).

MEADE 84, CHESAPEAKE SCIENCE POINT 39: Tyler Jiles had 14 points and Kahleem Jennings scored 12 as the Mustangs spread the scoring wealth in the season-opening win. Imhotep George and Wendell Barnes each scored nine points and Terrace Wells added eight points for Meade (1-0).

LANSDOWNE 65, CHESAPEAKE 60 (OT): Trace Carleton and Joe Seidler had 13 points apiece and Matt Kern added 12 points, but the Cougars struggled with free throws in the final minute, allowing Lansdowne to tie the game with 2.5 seconds remaining, before falling in overtime. Kern led the Cougars with 11 rebounds and Seidler grabbed five rebounds. Russell Tongue had six points and six assists and Alonzo Wilkes had six points and four blocks. Khalil Gary had five points and six rebounds for Chesapeake (0-1).

GREAT MILLS 76, OLD MILL 75: Avion Robinson scored 29 points and Daevone Johnson added 21, but the Patriots dropped their season-opener.

ST. JOHN’S CATHOLIC PREP 69, KEY 32: The Obezags (0-1) lost their season-opener on the road.
