Anne Arundel County police arrested a man Tuesday they said attempted to rob a Severn pharmacy at knifepoint in May.

Police arrested William Thomas Beaver, 55, of Severn, after identifying him as a suspect from security footage.

Officers were called to the CVS at 2600 Annapolis Road at 9:25 a.m. May 23 for a reported attempted robbery.

The robber entered the store and took out a knife, demanding cash from an employee, police said.

When the cashier shouted, police said the man fled toward Disney Road without taking money from the store.

Officers searched the area and were unable to locate him at the time.

Police obtained a warrant Monday charging Beaver with armed robbery, assault and weapons offenses. Bail was set at $3,000, but Beaver remained in the county Detention Center Tuesday, court records show.

An attorney from the Public Defender’s office was appointed to represent him. The attorney representing him could not be reached for comment.
