A Millersville man was arrested Saturday as police say he tried to bring a loaded handgun onto a flight at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.

The Transportation Safety Administration stopped a man at a security checkpoint after they say an X-ray machine found there was a loaded .40 caliber handgun with 12 bullets in his carry-on bag.

Dave Guerra, 54, of Millersville, was arrested and charged with weapons and security-related offenses, a Maryland Transportation Authority Police spokesman said.

The TSA said it’s the second instance of someone trying to bring a gun onto a plane in the last three days. A Prince George’s County man was arrested two days earlier, the administration said.

As of June 24, the airport has seen 12 firearms seized, the administration said. Security officials caught 26 firearms in all of 2017.
